Criminal Injury Compensation Authority

The Criminal Injury Compensation Authority (CICA) is the government body that makes awards to innocent victims of violent crimes.

Some adopted children will have been victims of crime early in life such as physical or sexual abuse. The CICA will consider compensation awards for the physical and psychological impacts of crime and consider things such as future loss of earnings.

There are strict rules governing the scheme and it's complex. The Belay Foundation recently hosted a webinar with Steven Astley, Partner at GLP Solicitors to talk through the scheme, how it could apply to adopted children and how the process works.

The Potato Group would like to thank The Belay Foundation for allowing us to link through to a recording of the webinar on our website.
